Yet another feature about our fantastic new salon
Our new salon has been featured in this magazine.
Dale Hairdressing is in Vogue, May edition. Make sure you go and grab a copy!
So, I was thinking the other day that there are no salon recommended mobile hairdressers. Lets face it, its not always convenient to get into the salon depending on different circumstances so I thought why not give you the option of having your hair done at home, in the office or if your on a night out at the hotel before you leave. Pricing will be the same as in the salon with a small mileage & parking (if applicable) charge. If this is something you would like give us a call!
So look out for a Dale Hairdressing branded Smart car zooming around Birmingham sorting all of your ‘do’s
Sorry for the lack of updates i FORGOT MY PASSWORD ‘oops’ . Firstly the salon has been extremely busy, actually our busiest last two months since we opened our doors to you lovely lot! We have all been busy with photo shoots, Paul has been away working London fashion week, Claire has been busy in and out of the salon treating everyone at the BBC to amazing treatments, James and I have been shooting our entry photos for the L’Oreal colour trophy, (pictures below). We actually got through the first stage of judging and this Sunday 13th April, I shall be competing on stage in front judges hoping I will get to the grand final in London in a couple of months AND Nicola is soon to have her baby girl.
I have been super busy launching a mobile service to the salon which I am still currently working on, but keep you eyes peeled for our little Dale Hairdressing smart car zooming around Birmingham giving everyone great hair from there Home, Office, Hotel 🙂
Harvey, the best salon junior ever! is doing really well at college. He has just had a rather big competition where he had to create a look around his chosen theme ‘fire’. Firstly he coloured his models hair making some sections blonde then toned with a copper/gold toner. He then set his models hair creating loads of volume then brushed to the side and pinned into place (picture below) And ill tell how he gets on soon!
Told you we had been busy! And i hope you all have a brilliant day and we shall see you all soon.
So sorry for my lack of posting, we have been super busy with Christmas and all our amazing winter weddings.
Firstly I hope you all have had a lovely Christmas and new year! seems like a very long time ago now though doesn’t it?
For the last two years I have been to help out at a charity called Birmingham Christmas shelter, this is open over the Christmas period to give warmth, food and shelter for people who may not have anywhere to go and also to provide services like hairdressing (where Dale Hairdressing comes in) dentistry, chiropody and others.
It was my job this year, on boxing day to provide haircuts for those who needed them. In the 3 1/2 hours my scissors were out about 30 haircuts were done and the best bit, seeing everyone walking around with a big smile on there face.
If you would like to help out next time have a look at www.birminghamchristmasshelter.org
Yesterday Nicola attended a day with the Trevor Sorbie Art Team over at the Loreal academy Manchester,
The day involved Shu Uemura product training and how you can cocktail the products to suit each clients hair type and needs.
We also had a demonstration from Mai Ha and Adam Szabo from the Trevor Sorbie Art Team they showed us some of there collections from shoots they had done for various commercials, competitions and magazines, then in the afternoon we had the chance to recreate there looks and play around with the products with the help from Mai and Adam themselves.
We learnt new techniques from curling with chopsticks to using hair nets to smooth the hair and how to take photographic, session work and translate the latest trends into wearable commercial styles.
Did you know all Shu Uemura products have UV filters?
So some of you may know on Sunday I did the Birmingham half marathon to raise money for Macmillan cancer support, running is not one of my strong points but I managed to complete 13.1 miles of mostly running, well I think some would call it a shuffle and a little walking but I have raised nearly £900 and still counting.
Its not too late to show your support so if you would like to sponsor me go to www.justgiving.com./dale-hollinshead
Filming in St Pauls Square today, so if your passing through have a little mooch you might see someone exciting.
Been as we having a sunny period, don’t forget to use protection on your hair from the sun. Shu Uemura has some great products with UV filters, sun screen for your hair is just as important as sun screen for your skin!

Sometimes Bad Hair Days don’t just happen during daylight hours. Fact. A disastrous ‘do is just as likely to take place when you’re getting dolled-up for an important evening date; a networking event for work, or a good old fashioned night on the tiles and don’t even talk to us about the dangers of DIY dye jobs. Well, thank your lucky stars, as Dale Hairdressing in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter has just launched a 24/7 Emergency Hair Service so your coiffeur need never be challenged.
As the service suggests, if you need to call on the creative talents of head honcho, Dale Hollinshead, he’ll be there, day or night. It’s this level of customer empathy that is intrinsic to the Dale Hairdressing ethos and experience – it comes from having being at the forefront of creative hairdressing in some of the Second City’s most elite salons.
Originally a Birmingham boy, Dale, 28, returned from the Big Smoke to take up a position with Obsession
Salon and Spa in the Mailbox. He later, and most recently, worked at the salon of TV-Stylist, Lisa Shepherd in her flagship city salon. With a decade of unquestionable credentials (and with an impressive celebrity client list to boot), Dale felt it time to cut the cord and go it alone; the result being his first boutique salon in the Jewellery Quarter, which launched earlier this year.
If this is like his home, we want to move in. With an eye firmly fixed on the future, Dale reckons the salon is an extension of his own quirky personality and offers more than a nod to a bygone era: we love the Britishness of the Bowler hat lights, the Victorian brick style tiling, the Vintage Chesterfield sofa that’s been in the family for three-generations and, of course, his in-resident French Bulldog, Percy.”I have always worked in very large, super-amazing salons and that’s great, but I’m more about the smaller, independent boutique-sized salon where I can really look after the people that come into my space and they feel like they’ve been invited into my home”, says Dale.
With top notch hairdressing credentials and 24/7 access, could Dale Hairdressing be the 5th Emergency Service? Next time you’re having a hair meltdown, you know who to call…Based on Caroline Street, opposite the swanky new Bloc Hotel, Dale has purposely chosen a near-city site, rather than the High Street; “I decided to be in the Jewellery Quarter, as its has a great footfall of people walking to St Paul’s Square and in to the city centre at all times of the day giving a great feeling, but with that village type feeling, too”. It’s worth pointing out that parking is a darn site easier too (and cheaper at 70p for an hour).

Stylists, are you ready? Colourists, start your mixing Britain’s most prominent hairdressing competition, The L’Oreal Colour Trophy is here! The regional finals swept through the UK and saw Midlands stylists rise to the challenge with not one, not two, but three Salons making it into the finals! Toni & Guy Solihull, Derby’s Sally Montague Hair Salon and Birmingham’s Dale Hairdressing will join the nation’s top salons as they go scissor to comb, competing for hairdressing’s most coveted award as well as ‘A Year of Dreams’, which includes a photo shoot and double page spread in Vogue.
Having been at the forefront of creative hairdressing in some of the Second City’s most elite salons, Dale Hollinshead has racked up a decade of unquestionable credentials and decided that the time was right to cut the cord and go it alone, opening his boutique salon in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter last year. Based on Caroline Street,
Dale Hairdressing acts as an extension of Dale’s quirky personality, nodding to bygone eras and quintessential British-ness with bowler hat lights, Victorian style tiling and a vintage Chesterfield sofa.
This balance of retro and chic extended to Dale’s entry in the competition, albeit subtly as he explains”My look was inspired by autumn winter trends combined with a soft 70’s influence; I based the style on understated glamour and powerful elegance.”

Summer is certainly all go for Dale Hairdressing; after the salon’s interior received some stylish summer lovin’, the Jewellery Quarter’s high-end hair haunt has been selected as a key stockist for ultra-exclusive boutique styling range Shu Umera.
Shu Uemura is a range of hair products inspired by the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, aiming to reinvent the hair beauty secrets of Geishas. Made from natural ingredients, Shu Uemura’s own Hair Ceremony is a unique range of tailor made treatments that combine Shiatsu based sensorial gestures with high performance remedies to enhance your scalp, hairand mood in moments.
It’s a range that focuses on keeping things simple and offers an uncomplicated way to amazing hair, something which fits in well with the ethos at Dale Hairdressing where beautiful, low maintenance and healthy hair is the order of the day.
Dale Hairdressing is one of only a handful of salons in the UK chosen to stock the range, no doubt thanks to the reputation of salon owner Dale Hollinshead who’s extensive background and reputation for outstanding customer service and empathy has seen the salon quickly rise to the forefront of creative hairdressing in the Second City. So much so that Dale Hairdressing are entering the coveted Independent Salon of the Year award at the British Hairdressing Awards which take place later in the year, and have made it through to the grand final of this year’s L’Oreal Colour Trophy Awards (see picture below).
Based on Caroline Street, just a stone’s throw away hill from the sophisticated bars, restaurants and galleries of St Paul’s Square, the salon’s quirky interior retains its link to owner Dale Hollinshead’s personality and offers more than a nod to a bygone era: we love the Britishness of the Bowler hat lights, the Victorian brick style tiling, the Vintage Chesterfield sofa that’s been in the family for three-generations and, of course, his resident French Bulldog, Percy.
