Stylists, are you ready? Colourists, start your mixing Britain’s most prominent hairdressing competition, The L’Oreal Colour Trophy is here! With roots (geddit?) that can be traced back to the 60s, the L’Oreal Colour Trophy is made up of several key awards including the Colour Trophy Award, Men’s Image Award, Young Colourist Award and the Mizani Afro Look Award.
The regional finals swept through the UK and saw Midlands stylists rise to the challenge with not one, not two, but three Salons making it into the finals! Toni & Guy Solihull, Derby’s Sally Montague Hair Salon and Birmingham’s Dale Hairdressing will join the nation’s top salons as they go scissor to comb, competing for hairdressing’s most coveted award as well as ‘A Year of Dreams’, which includes a photo shoot and double page spread in Vogue.
Having been at the forefront of creative hairdressing in some of the Second City’s most elite salons, Dale Hollinshead has racked up a decade of unquestionable credentials and decided that the time was right to cut the cord and go it alone, opening his boutique salon in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter last year. Based on Caroline Street,
Dale Hairdressing acts as an extension of Dale’s quirky personality, nodding to bygone eras and quintessential British-ness with bowler hat lights, Victorian style tiling and a vintage Chesterfield sofa.
This balance of retro and chic extended to Dale’s entry in the competition, albeit subtly as he explains”My look was inspired by autumn winter trends combined with a soft 70’s influence; I based the style on understated glamour and powerful elegance.”
